Fattoria Tregole

This idyllic location in the heart of Chianti, the Fattoria Tregole, five kilometers outside the charming village of Castellina, is reached by a gravel road. The ivy-covered stone farmhouse with hexagonal 18th century oratory (one of only two in Tuscany) is on the small road and opens out to the back to unspoiled hillsides covered with woods and vineyards. While husband Catello tends to the production of Chianti wine (visit the cantina with wood barrels for the reserve wines), gracious hostess Edith pays careful attention to her guests. There are five comfortable bedrooms and also two apartments complete with kitchen corner and living room, perfect for two to four guests. Particular care has been given to the décor, with peach-colored hand-stenciled walls and trim, soft colored quilts, antique pieces, painted wrought-iron beds, and dried flower arrangements all complimenting the terracotta brick floors. The breakfast room is set with white porcelain to match the white chairs and tables where Edith serves fresh cakes and breads each morning. With adequate notice an occasional dinner can also arranged. Outdoors the terrace and swimming enjoy inspiring views across the surrounding countryside. A great base for exploring Tuscany.
