Traveler Reviews of
Gigliotto:
(show / hide)

This is an excellent place to stay. Great value at half board rate. Beware that the Villa Casale, the main reason to visit, is closed until March 2009. In town, there is a very pleasant tourist walk, a merchant gave us a map. Agrigento is too far to visit from here. You need a full day or more there to visit the ’valley’ and the museum (superb). (The Demetra Hotel was very nice, a modern 4 star that feels more like a 5 star). The food was of very high quality, enormous proportions served ’family style’. The best memory was what I would call ’tempura cauliflower’ served with many other goodies as starters. If you want to try cactus apples as dessert, this is the place. Nice ’novello 2008’ wine produced there. The rooms were a bit cold but it was in December.
