Karen's Review Of This Property:

Poetically named after a classic Italian tale by Cesare Pavese, a native of this area, the Luna e i Falo’ (meaning “the moon and the fire”) farmhouse was lovingly restored by congenial hosts Ester and Franco Carnero. The ritual described in the story is still performed in August every year when local farmers burn old grapevines under the full moon in hopes of a good crop. On that night, the bonfires dotting hills surrounding the farm create quite a spectacle. The Carneros’ brick home has arched windows and arcaded front and side terraces, with three double or triple rooms and one apartment for four persons within the villa, which they have made available to visitors. For a country home, the spacious living/dining area is elaborately furnished with Renaissance period pieces. The bedrooms enjoy a combination of old and new decor and sweeping views of the countryside, known for its wineries. The emphasis at the Luna e i Falo’ is on the cuisine: the proprietors previously owned a top-rated restaurant in Turin and continue to practice their culinary skills, producing delicacies from ancient recipes to guests’ delight. Regardless of the language barrier, they have a way of making guests feel right at home.
