Karen's Review Of This Property:
This charming and historic accommodation, once an ancient monastery, stands high on a promontory overlooking the Sorrento coast. At just a few kilometres from the crowds in Sorrento, Pompei and the Amalfi coast, here you have the advantage of total peace and quiet. The drive up the hilltop is a long, narrow road among chestnuts and dense olive groves to the stone–walled property, whose entrance is marked by an arched gateway with watchtower leading into a park. As you walk through the stone archway into the large grass courtyard you feel as though you have stepped back in time. The Giusso family has owned this beloved property for the past 200 years and warmly invite guests to share the beauty and serenity of the place. A welcome drink awaits you on the stone terrace with its absolutely mesmerizing views of Ischia island, Vesuvius volcano and the bay of Naples. Every possible effort has been made to maintain the authentic historical ambience with bedrooms down one long corridor having original iron-beds and 18th century furnishings. A fascinating museum of family heirlooms which literally recount the past are displayed in the attic. Two comfortable suites have been cleverly fashioned in separate houses (once monk’s dwellings) in the olive groves. Breakfast with local fresh ricotta, figs in season and homemade cakes is served in the original kitchen completely tiled with 17th-century Vietri ceramics. Dinner is also available upon request. Though not for everyone, Villa Giusso is intriguing and offers the visitor a unique slice of Italian history.

-- 30 minutes from: POMPEI, Mt VESUVIUS, HERCULENEUM, POSITANO and AMALFI a short breath-taking 30-40 minute drive to Positano. If you want to do "everything" in the Naples Sorrento area, this is the best located property. Don't let the mountain roads scare you, if you're visiting the area you will have to get used to them. In the summer, the mountain will be a relief, but we love the area in the autumn.
