Ash-Rowan
( Guesthouse )
Owners: Evelyn & Sam Hazlett |

Karen's Review Of This Property:
Ash-Rowan is the relaxed, very friendly, unpretentious home of Sam and Evelyn Hazlett—an excellent choice for a bed and breakfast while staying in the northern capital. A varied choice of breakfasts sets you up for the day—opt for organic porridge flavored with Drambuie and cream served with pancakes; Irish scramble with eggs, chopped bacon, and mushrooms, or the Ulster Fry, the ultimate cooked breakfast which the menu warns is not for the faint hearted. Vegetarians should try the flambéed mushrooms or vegetarian omlette. It’s a climb to the top of the house (no large cases!) but worth it to secure one of the choice rooms (7 and 8) that offer more spacious quarters. All the rooms have TVs, phones, bathrobes, and hospitality trays with biscuits, teas, coffee, and instant soups. Beds are made with crisply starched linen sheets and pillowcases. The location, near the university, is perfect for strolling into the city and taxis are inexpensive for a night out on the town. Peruse the papers and the tourist literature in the wonderfully cluttered conservatory then seek out Sam or Evelyn to set you up with sightseeing venues for the day.
