Karen's Review Of This Property:
Sudeley Lodge, built in 1760 as a hunting lodge on the Sudeley Castle estate, sits high on a hill overlooking rolling countryside beyond its acres of gorgeous gardens. Jim grew up here and shares the family home with his parents, with Jim, Susie, and their family having the Westward wing. Jim and Susie welcome guests with tea and cake, encouraging them to make themselves at home, relax by the fire, sit on the terrace, wander through the gardens, and go walking on the estate—there’s the ruins of a Roman villa in the adjoining woods. Upstairs, the spacious bedrooms have lovely views across the garden to the countryside. Susie offers lots of choices for her breakfasts including kedgeree and fishcakes as well as the traditional English breakfast. There is no shortage of excellent places to eat both in nearby Winchcombe and the surrounding villages. Just down the road is Sudeley Castle with its parklike setting, magnificent medieval exterior, and recently restored gardens. This is an ideal spot for exploring Cotswold towns and villages, gardens, and houses, with Broadway, Chipping Campden, Lower Slaughter, Cirencester, and Stow-on-the-Wold all being within easy reach.
