Walk across the grassy Praça do Império in front of the monastery where a pedestrian underpass takes you under the road and train tracks to the impressive Monument to the Discoveries where Prince Henry the Navigator stands at the prow leading a parade of world explorers. An elevator takes you to the top of the monument for excellent views of the surrounding area.
