One of the state’s premier hiking trails is the 40-mile Timberline Trail, which loops around Mount Hood and provides unparalleled views of the Cascade Mountains, the Willamette Valley, and meadows of wildflowers. August and September are the best months for walking. For information on how to get the most out of the trail in short excursions, call the Hood River Ranger District at 541-352-6002 or inquire in the lodge.
