Mamertine Prison

I actually was not able to enter this sight because some work was going on there, but I still recommend it to anyone with an interest in Biblical history. This prison is said to be the one where both Peter and Paul were kept during their prison time in Rome. Many theologians believe that Paul wrote his 2nd letter to Timothy from this prison. Although I couldn't go into the prison, just being there was meaningful to me. My husband took my picture next to a large drawing of Paul on a sign outside the prison, and I could at least photograph the door leading to the prison area! If you choose to go, just know that you might not be able to go inside but that you will still be in an important historical place!
