As a complement (or alternative) to visiting Skellig Michael, visit the Skellig Heritage Centre on Valencia Island. The center is found where the road bridge meets the island, directly opposite Portmagee. An audio-visual presentation, “The Call of the Skelligs,” takes you to the Skellig Michael monastery while displays show the bird and sea life of the islands. (Open Apr–mid-Nov, tel: 066 9476306.)
