Abbaye de Senanque

Just four kilometers from the ever popular town of Gordes is Senanque and the Abbaye. Detour to Senanque to visit its 12th-century Cistercian abbey which stands dramatically isolated at the edge of the mountainside surrounded by lavender and oak trees. Vacated by the monks in 1869 and accessible on foot by a 2-kilometer path up from the car park, the abbey is now a religious cultural center and hosts concerts in the summer months.
