St. Étienne Cathedral

If time allows, visit Metz, a city dating back to Roman times. Today it is a large metropolis; however at its heart you find an interesting, pedestrian-only, historic center. Of greatest interest here is the magnificent St. Étienne Cathedral, one of the finest Gothic cathedrals in France. Its beautiful stained glass windows were done by famous artists, including Marc Chagall. The cathedral and many of the nearby historic monuments are romantically illuminated at night.
