| Recenter Map To This Location |
Built in 1889 by Gustave Eiffel, the tower has become synonymous with Paris. The tower was built for a World's Fair honoring the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution and, at the time, was the tallest structure in the world. It was later surpassed by New York's Chrysler Building in 1930. The original permit was for 20 years but the tower seems to be permanent now.
