The magnificent, spacious, 14th-century church at Tideswell is so impressive that it is often described as “the cathedral of the Peak.” It was built between 1300 and 1370 when Tideswell was an affluent place and it is fortunate that Tideswell fell upon hard times so that parishioners could not afford to update their church as ecclesiastical fashions changed.
