Hans Christian Andersens Hus

Hans Christian Andersen, whose 156 fairytales are loved by children and adults all over the world, once said he would be the reason that people came to Odense and indeed, for the majority of tourists, his prophecy has come true. Signs all over town direct you to HANS CHRISTIAN ANDERSEN'S HUS, the tiny pastelwashed house where he was born into a poor family, his father a struggling cobbler and his mother a laundress. The family living quarters have been expanded to include a museum about his life, loves (Jenny Lind, an opera singer, was the inspiration for his work "The Nightingale") and works. You can listen in the museum to recordings of several fairytales narrated by Sir Michael Redgrave.
