The Japanese Tea Garden in downtown San Mateo’s Central Park, is a delightful tiny oasis of calm. There’s a teahouse, gazebo, pagoda, waterfall and two bridges. There’s lots of Koi fish and it’s fun to time your arrival with their being fed. Koi Feeding: 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, during spring and summer (fish are NOT fed during public hours November to February).
Parking on the street or beneath the tennis courts on 5th Avenue.
Free Hours 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Mon to Fri 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Sat & Sun
