Open weekdays 9am to 4pm The Pulgas Water Temple was erected by the San Francisco Water Department in 1934 at the point where the Hetch Hetchy Aqueduct (carrying water from the Hetch Hetchy reservoir over 160 miles away) enters Crystal Springs reservoir. In 1938, the original water temple was replaced with the current design. Atop the fluted columns is a large stone circle inscribed with the words “I give waters in the wilderness and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people”. There is a large reflecting pool lined with Italian Cypress in front of the temple. Entrance is free, there’s lots of car parking, a large grassy area and bathrooms.
