Mexico: Mexico lies just south of San Diego. Do not judge the whole of Mexico by its border town of Tijuana, but if you would like to have a taste of Mexico, take one of the “shopping and sightseeing” tours that leave from downtown for the short drive to the border. You can drive across the border, but the bus tour removes the hassle from the trip. Or, you can now take the light rail trolley from San Diego to Tijuana (http://world.nycsubway.org/us/sandiego/). Before travelling south, check with local San Diegans to gauge the current safety of Tijuana.
