The “must see” is the Johnston Ridge Observatory, only 5 miles from the volcano. Named for a geologist who lost his life in the final blast, the observatory offers an amazing view of Mount St. Helens and a 15-minute film called A Message from the Mountain, which will stop you in your tracks.
