Just north of I-66 and off Route 234 is one of the most famous of all Civil War battlefields—Manassas, where the armies of the North and the South engaged in the most bloody and deadly battles of the Civil War. For those interested in this period of history, the battlefields of Manassas are marked so as to give the visitor an understanding of the troop movements and the strategies that were employed.
