Nearby points of interest include The Barnes Foundation only 5 miles south of the Philadelphia's city center via I-76 to Route 1 in the town of Merion. The gallery was built by Dr. Albert Barnes, a wealthy physician and pharmaceutical manufacturer, to house his incredible art collection. This now includes more than 1,100 Impressionist and Post-Impressionist paintings by Renoir, Cézanne, Matisse, Monet, Manet, Picasso, Modigliani, and others of these schools. While famous for the Impressionist collection the museum is much more with works of art from around the world and from many different styles. Call ahead as reservations are a must.
