Just 7 miles north of Great Barrington is Stockbridge, that grand old dame of the Berkshires. Whether you stay here or in one of the surrounding towns matters not, for there is much to do in this area. The village of Stockbridge, with its broad Main Street, lovely old trees, and one beautiful old home after another, is worth a full day. At the top of the list is a visit to the Norman Rockwell Museum, which houses the largest collection of the work of this famous American artist. Many pieces were used on the covers of the Saturday Evening Post and his depictions of everyday life ring true and close to home with any viewer. Smiles are difficult to repress!
