Goose Rocks Beach
A Karen Brown Recommendation
Cape Porpoise, Maine, United States |
| Recenter Map To This Location |
Back on Route 9, you continue north a few miles to a barn on your left with a clock tower and a somewhat confusing sign on your right that points to the beach called Goose Rocks. With one tiny store, this beach is a magnificent 2-mile-long stretch of sand—a rarity on the rocky coast of Maine. If you’re able to linger here, you become immediately aware that the tides on this northeast coast rise and fall 10 feet or more with each change of tide, so the beach you walk at low tide will become much narrower as the tide comes in. If you put a toe into
the water, you quickly learn that swimming on the coast of Maine takes a degree of courage!
