Discover one of England’s finest examples of the medieval manor house, at Aydon Castle. Construction began here in 1296, and the structure was wracked by a turbulent history, including sacking by the Scots in 1315 and again in 1346. While it has changed ownership many times over the years, the manor is remarkably preserved, and offers the visitor a unique and idyllic glimpse into the past. Cafe on property.
