The Lucerne Tourist Office offers an excursion called “A Walk Around Lucerne”—a walking tour that also includes a short ride on the city train. Along the way your guide will explain many interesting facts (and humorous stories) about the city’s history, its churches, narrow streets, bridges, and quaint medieval squares. The two-hour tour takes place daily from May through October. November through April, the tour is on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The departure time is 9:45 am from the tourist information center at the train station. If you are with friends or family and there are five people in your party, private theme tours are available. Ask about these at the tourist office. This would be a fun way to have your own specialized excursion.
