Santa Maria d'Urgell Cathedral is the most emblematic building of the town. In addition, it is the only Romanesque cathedral preserved in Catalonia. It was built during the 12th century, thanks to bishop Saint Ot's drive. The current building has a basilica shape, with 3 naves, a large central apse with an internal small apse and four side apses that are not seen from the outside. Throughout the centuries, it was subject to many changes and modifications until the beginning of the 20th century, when the restoration works started, thanks to the work of Pascual Sanz Barrera and Josep Puig i Cadafalch, and returned it to its original form.
