Karen's Review Of This Property:
The General Lewis Inn is one of more than 60 buildings that make up Lewisburg’s National Historic District with nearby Civil War sites. Patrick Henry and Thomas Jefferson stood at the inn’s front desk when they registered and visited one of the many local mineral springs resorts, popular with the antebellum aristocrats so many years ago. The living room, a 1929 addition to a home built in 1834, is filled to brimming with antiques and collectibles gathered over the years by the inn’s founder. Bedrooms are simply furnished, mostly with double beds, but with some queen bed options. Some have canopy beds, which add to the nostalgic and historic feeling of this property. Rooms are equipped with bureaus, desks, TVs, and air conditioning, and all have private, but, small, basic bathrooms. The master bedroom has two double beds and a love seat where you can sit and read. The two-bedroom suite is perfect for those traveling with family or friends. The inn has a dining room serving old-fashioned meals including fried chicken, country ham, and mountain trout. This is a good location from which to explore this era of our nation’s history.
