Karen's Review Of This Property:
The Gaslight Inn is a superbly restored, 1906 vintage Craftsman home in Capitol Hill filled with museum-quality Arts and Crafts furniture and stunning works of art. The large entrance hall is your introduction to the spacious public rooms, which gleam with rich oak paneling and are decorated with an interesting mix of animal trophy heads, antiques, Northwest Indian artifacts, and impressive contemporary glass pieces. The dining room, where a continental breakfast is served, has beautiful built-in cupboards and a fine collection of pewter plates. Your challenge will be deciding where to relax: should it be in the living room next to the large oak fireplace, in the parlor, in the library, on the windowseat on the landing, or out on the deck overlooking the swimming pool? The bedrooms are accessed up an elegant, wide staircase dominated by a beautiful stained-glass window (one of many in the house). Rooms vary in size and amenities, but all are comfortably furnished with double or queen beds, Arts and Crafts furniture, and color TVs. Bathrooms are well equipped and absolutely gleaming. I loved the sitting room of the suite I saw: it was a real haven with leather armchairs and gas fire. Don't let all this perfection intimidate you, though, for the atmosphere here is relaxed and welcoming.
