Karen's Review Of This Property:
Imagine waking to views of the very spot where Lewis and Clark first reached the Pacific Ocean in 1805. China Beach Retreat is an intimate, three-bedroom hideaway and a very special place. Hardwood floors, low ceilings, leaded stained glass, and eclectic collections of antique furniture characterize the cozy downstairs: sophisticated yet informal, elegant yet rustic. Marvel at the tranquil surroundings through ten huge panes of glass, not a neighbor in sight. The largest bedroom is situated right off the sitting room. It’s painted in a cheerful orange sherbet and has its own sun porch with eight windows. A beautiful, wood-framed queen bed sits in the center of the room covered in a rich floral print. Two enchanting rooms upstairs are surrounded on two sides by windows, so you can enjoy the view from your bed. One is papered in a subtle floral of yellow, white, and rose; the other is painted a lovely shade of white-green complemented with dark antique furniture. Both offer large modern baths with handsome tile work. A recent addition is the Audubon Cottage that is separate from the main house and enjoys a private exterior soaking tub. David and Laurie’s gourmet breakfasts are served at The Shelburne Inn, about five minutes away.
