Karen's Review Of This Property:
Charles Nelson was an oysterman, and a cranberry man. Born and raised in nearby Oysterville, in 1929 he decided to build his wife a house on the shores of Willapa Bay, so he ordered a Dutch Colonial from a Sears and Roebuck catalogue like any fine young gentleman might. The outcome is a beautiful gray-shingled house that has perfectly withstood the test of time. There are windows absolutely everywhere. It's cheerful, clean, and light in a kind of Norman Rockwell way. Ginger and Curt have painted the entryway a welcoming shade of blue, which looks great against the hardwood floors, the throws, and the quilts on the wall. The surrounding common rooms are small, but inviting, especially the sun porch overlooking the water and garden. Our favorite guestrooms were Charlie's Room overlooking the bay through several windows at the foot of the bed; and Nancy's Room, decorated in a sunny, country style with cheerful yellows, blues, and whites. Its windows overlook the garden. The most popular feature in Elsa's Room, the largest, is the bathroom; daringly outfitted with the original lavender toilet, tub, and pedestal sink.
