The 1661 Inn & Hotel Manisses Sketch

Karen's Review Of This Property:

Block Island, described by the Nature Conservancy as one of the last 12 great places in the Western Hemisphere, can be reached by ferry or plane from Connecticut, Rhode Island, or Long Island. There is nothing like an island with its magical feeling of being a place apart—in this unspoiled spot you really feel you have stepped back in time. The 1661 Inn and Hotel Manisses, with fifty-seven guestrooms in seven buildings, offers a range of delightful accommodations. Rooms are individually decorated, with various combinations of whirlpool tubs, decks, ocean views, and wood-burning fireplaces. Some rooms accommodate three or more persons, very convenient for families. There are wide porches for sitting and gazing at the ocean with its ever-changing activity and light. Breakfast (at The 1661 Inn) includes several hot entrees. Dinner, showcasing local seafood, is enjoyed at the Hotel Manisses, where you find fine dining in a casual atmosphere. On this island there is much or little to do—strolling along wide sandy beaches, bicycling, hiking, horseback riding, shopping, boating, fishing, bird watching, kayaking, and visiting historical lighthouses—or relaxing at the hotel with a good book.
