Arch Cape House, a Bed & Breakfast

Karen's Review Of This Property:
It's a little bit of Switzerland, a little bit of Mexico, a little bit of Morocco, and a little bit of France. It has been called a shingled sandcastle, a French-style storybook château. An environment has been created as different as possible from how, and where, one normally lives. Antiques and reproductions are intermixed in a graceful and artistic style. Intriguing architectural surprises and exquisite decorating details catch the eye at every turn. The grounds lead one to feel the tranquility of remoteness, yet the location is only ten minutes to either Cannon Beach or Manzanita. The inn was acquired by Barbara Dau in 2003 who is faithfully maintaining the interior design and the lush and whimsical flowering garden as the previous owners (the Bernards) had created them. Since the inn was built as a bed & breakfast, the guestrooms are private, spacious, and well appointed. All have tiled bathrooms with stall showers, gas fireplaces, refrigerators, and concealed (sometimes ingeniously) TV/VCRs. Most rooms have views of the ocean, which lies just 250 yards from the inn across the road. An artful, hearty breakfast is served in a solarium-turreted dining room; to which is added Barbara's warmth and hospitality, and her tasteful and continually inventive cuisine.
