Karen's Review Of This Property:
The Lamplight Inn is a romantic 1890 Victorian inn located halfway between Saratoga Springs and Lake George. Here, in the countryside, you can begin to feel the magnificence of the Adirondacks. The roads are lined with trees and there are views of meadows around every bend in the road. The inn sits on top of a hill, as if it commands all that it overlooks. It is pure Victorian, and the common rooms and bedrooms reflect this style. There are patterns on bedspreads, curtains, carpets, and pillows reminiscent of the bygone era. There is a large dining room, a comfortable living room, and a wrap-around porch—which was part of the architecture of this period—all designed with great entertaining in mind. The house was built for a wealthy lumberman (an eligible bachelor) in the Gothic style and was used as his summer home. There’s a magnificent chestnut keyhole staircase, crafted in England, which leads up to the bedrooms. Linda and Gene purchased the home in 1984 and, together, created the bed-and-breakfast inn that exists today. Breakfast in the morning includes fruit, freshly baked bread or muffins, homemade granola—followed by a non-egg special and egg menu, breakfast meat, and famous home-fried potatoes. A great variety of events and seasonal activities are available the year-round.
