Karen's Review Of This Property:
Travelers are drawn to Salem for many reasons: the haunting tales of witches, the House of Seven Gables made famous in the writings of Nathaniel Hawthorne, the incredible Peabody-Essex Museum, the Maritime National Historic Site and Pickering Wharf. The Hawthorne Hotel, just across from Salem Common and within walking distance of all historic sites, is a handsome brick building. Just off the entry is the award-winning Nathaniel Restaurant. The grand and spacious lobby has comfortable and intimate seating arrangements. Off the lobby is the charming Tavern, which serves casual fare at fireside tables, from 11 am to 11 pm. Guestrooms are all similar, with reproduction furniture in style with the period of the hotel, but vary in size and amenities. The six suites are all corner rooms with a separate bedroom and a sitting room equipped with sofa bed. A National Historic building, this is a nice hotel with a good location.
