Karen's Review Of This Property:
Captain Hiram Harding, a well know sea captain in the 1800s, built this home in 1839, and the inn’s very individual rooms are named after his family and the ships he sailed. This inn is an elegant compound with its guestrooms clustered around a handsome Greek Revival home. The common areas are attractively furnished with antiques and the dining-room sun porch is surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows giving views into the delightful gardens. Breakfast is served here with sterling silver and fine china on linen-covered tables. Each bedroom is individually decorated and many will remind you of the cozy feeling of colonial times with their beamed ceilings, fireplaces, and queen or king beds with antique bedposts. Many rooms have original random-width pine floors, adding to the decor’s charm. All rooms have private baths, a few have spa tubs, and several have private decks. I loved my room with its dark paneling, massive king bed, and a fireplace with two comfortable wing chairs. The Clarissa and Lady Hope rooms are examples of the owners’ passion to offer the best of accommodations. Among the many amenities you’ll find a new fitness center with exercise room and outdoor heated pool.
