Karen's Review Of This Property:
Set on a hillside above the charming port of Boothbay Harbor is a wonderful inn, Topside–The Inn on the Hill. With a lawn that overlooks the sea, it commands some of the finest views the town has to offer. The handsome three-story main house, in tones of grays and white with a great wrap-around porch, caught our attention. Converted from a 19th-century sea captain’s home, the inn has been completely renovated by its wonderful new owners, Ed and Brian. The décor is intentionally understated and simple blinds dress the windows to minimize any competition with the panoramic views. Soft muted colors wash the walls and compliment the attractive fabrics and furnishings. Area rugs and Oriental carpets top the beautiful old pine floors. A nautical theme appears in artwork and photos on the walls. Attractive guestrooms are found in all three buildings. Rooms in the main house have their own individual character and are more "styled". Those in the two additions, Windward and Leeward, are ideal for those seeking a casual, coastal experience. Facing the bay, all guestrooms in Windward enjoy both a front and back porch with a mix of one or two beds. Rooms in Leeward are a bit larger with refrigerators, larger closets, and more distant views. A bountiful breakfast is served in the main house dining room. Guests enjoy lounging in front of the fireplace in the inviting living room.
