Karen's Review Of This Property:
Magic is everywhere in this northern part of Maine—particularly at the Lodge at Moosehead Lake. It’s hard to imagine anyone more devoted to seeing that guests experience all this part of Maine can offer: dogsledding, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, cross-country and downhill skiing, mountain biking, whitewater rafting, touring by plane, hiking, canoeing, or fly fishing in a secret stream or lake in summer. And where else can you go on a moose safari? The Lodge is situated above the lake and frames this magnificent setting. From the common rooms, dining room, or on the expanse of back porch, one is captivated by views overlooking the broad waterscape and islands of the largest lake in Maine. The five bedrooms and four suites are nothing short of fabulous. I stayed in the Bear Room in a hand-carved four-poster queen bed, with bears carved into and perched on its posts. There was a hand-carved bear bench at the foot of the bed, two different sitting areas, and a gas corner fireplace with chair nearby for gazing out at the lake. Twigs are used to create borders instead of moldings and to simulate picture hangings. The decor is clever and artistic, yet rustic throughout.
