Karen's Review Of This Property:
Carter House Inns are made up of four buildings: the majestic Carter House, the adorable Bell Cottage and the Carter Cottage next door, and the adjacent Hotel Carter. The inns are the dream of Mark Carter who, after restoring several Victorian homes, chose to build his own (the Carter House), using the original plans for a Victorian house designed by the architect who built the Carson Mansion, a Victorian showplace in Eureka. All of their bedrooms are generously appointed with antique furniture, original artwork, and cozy flannel robes. While the Carter House offers the most delightful antique-filled rooms, if you are in the mood for something more sensuous, opt for a suite. The suites at the Hotel Carter offer large whirlpool tubs (in the bedroom) with marina views, fireplaces, king beds, large showers with two heads, entertainment centers, and well-stocked refrigerators (not complimentary). The inns restaurant 301 is a foodie destination. You can order a- la-carte or enjoy chef’s prix fixe menu, a five-course feast complete with wine parings. The 301 wine list features several thousand selections including wines from the Carter’s own winery in Calistoga.
