Karen's Review Of This Property:
From the front, Wood Hall appears to be a substantial, classic Georgian home, but step round the back and you discover beams and plasterwork, for the Georgian frontage is a façade placed on a 1480 Tudor home. A Victorian owner made his contribution to the house in the 1840s when he added tall windows that flood the entire house with light. This blend of architectural periods gives Susan and Patrick Nisbett’s home great charm. While Patrick has the interesting occupation of designing church vestments, Susan takes care of her guests, the family, and the pets. The building is large enough to give guests their own “end” of the house where a vast dining room with a polished table sitting center stage in the tall bay window doubles is the guests’ breakfast room. A broad staircase leads up to the bedrooms. The very pretty queen-bedded room has a shower, while the lovely twin-bedded room has a bath. Both are large enough to accommodate seating areas where you can relax or watch TV. With advanced notice Susan may provide dinner though you’ll find that there is no shortage of excellent eating places nearby, among them The Swan at Monks Eleigh or The Chimneys in Long Melford. Just up the road lies Lavenham with its many leaning timbered houses.
