Karen's Review Of This Property:
Because of its close proximity to The Potteries and Leek, Rose Cottage is an ideal countryside base for shopping for fine china and antique pine. It really is the most quintessentially countryside spot—a darling cottage set on a quiet country lane just up the road from Snelston, a very pretty village. The term “cottage” conjures up visions of a modest-sized house but though Rose Cottage has its origins in a small residence, it has been expanded over the years into a substantial house of great character. Toast your toes by the fire in the snug little parlor or spread out in the spacious sitting room with its large windows framing panoramic countryside views. The same lovely view is enjoyed by the bedrooms, the largest of which also offers bucolic views from its bathroom. One bedroom has its private bathroom across the hall. Breakfast is the only meal served. Nearby Ashbourne has some excellent restaurants but we preferred the “real ale”, excellent food, and old-world pub atmosphere of the Coach and Horses in the neighboring village of Fenny Bentley. Just down the road is Ashbourne with its splendid church and antique salesrooms and to the north lie the beautiful Derbyshire Dales.
