Chewton Glen was voted “best hotel in the British Isles" by Conde Nast Traveler US Readers in Dec 2006. It’s an image that is carefully nurtured and Chwton Glens efforts have been rewarded by considerable success—we had difficulty getting a room midweek in the summer. The secret of their success is not just the luxuriousness of the entire place—though it is indeed decadently luxurious, with lovely suites and bedrooms decked out with all the mod cons—but their understanding that luxury extends to offering absolutely outstanding, genuine service. To experience this level of service is one of the true pleasures in life. In between Nirvana-like meals you relax completely—perhaps with a little croquet on the lawn, a splash in the pool, or tea on the terrace. You can exert yourself in the spa and health club complex with its magnificent indoor pool, gym, indoor and outdoor tennis, and indulge yourself in various beauty treatments; disport yourself on the nine-hole golf course; or walk through the grounds and along the glen to the beach. If you feel the urge to go sightseeing, the New Forest, where wild deer and ponies roam is nearby. Stonehenge, Salisbury, and Winchester cathedrals are within an hour’s drive.
