Karen's Review Of This Property:
The taste of Augill Castle is truly delicious. It is a most imposing home—a flamboyant Victorian castle built by a local eccentric who used to greet his guests regally from a dais in the hallway. No regality to Wendy and Simon’s warm welcome! They have rescued this impressive place and returned it to its former glory, adding spacious bathrooms to the bedrooms, furnishing with antiques, and redecorating with their own hands the whole of this vast house. You will see what a task that has been when you look at the “before” picture in every room. Toast your toes by the fire in the magnificent music room and enjoy breakfast with your fellow guests round the 12-foot long dining table in the blue Gothic dining hall. The bedrooms are stunning and several are positively palatial—discuss your preferences when you book: magnificent four-poster bed, soaking tub for two, oak paneling, a walk-in turret, and Gothic leaded windows are just some of the choices. Sitting in the Eden Valley between the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District, Augill Castle is an ideal several-day stopover on your way south or north.
