Karen's Review Of This Property:
The Swiss Chalet was once the family home of the owner, Joseph Seeholzer, and inside this marvelous old farmhouse, their family rooms have been converted to an intimate melange of dining nooks. Guestrooms in the original farmhouse are found at the top of a steep flight of stairs. Tucked under low ceilings, the accommodations are small and simple in comfort and decor. Only a few have a private bath. In a newer, connecting building, a private dining room is found in what was once the house chapel, and upstairs a few rooms have been converted to guestrooms. We ventured to investigate two additional buildings that offer accommodation under the same ownership. The newly built Schloss Hotel across the street has a lakeside garden, antiques, armor, heavy beams, and wonderful large wooden doors that create an appealing, almost theatrical atmosphere. Guestrooms are modern in comfort, richly decorated, and many look out onto the lake. The Château Golden Gate, also newly constructed, is on the hillside above the other two buildings. Again, the use of armor, beams, and heavy doors give a feeling of an old castle. The guestrooms are large, lovely, and many enjoy wonderful views of the lake. There is also a rooftop terrace with spectacular views of the lake and distant mountains.
