Karen's Review Of This Property:
Montreux, a sophisticated, action-filled city with a fancy casino, hugs the shoreline at the east end of Lake Geneva. It’s a fun place to visit, but we prefer to stay just a few minutes away in the quiet, elegant suburb of Clarens. Here you find splendid private villas lining the waterfront with glorious views over the lake and beyond to soaring mountain peaks. One of these mansions, L’Ermitage, has been converted into a renowned, gourmet restaurant. It is housed in a pretty, white, two-story home that exudes the ambiance of a French country manor with its steep mansard roof and gabled windows framed by shutters. There is no road between the villa and the lake to disrupt the serenity—only an enticing walking path that traces the waterfront. The owner, Etienne Krebs, is also the chef whose outstanding cuisine has earned his restaurant a coveted Michelin star. Meals are served in a choice of several intimate, pretty dining rooms. However, when the weather is warm, guests love to dine outside on the terrace where they can enjoy a delicious meal while savoring a breathtaking view of the lake. In addition to the restaurant, L’Ermitage has seven individually decorated guestrooms (including three junior suites) that exude softness and old-fashioned appeal—staying here is like being a guest in a private home. For a special treat, ask for a room with a view.
