Karen's Review Of This Property:
The Hotel des Balances, located on the banks of the River Reuss is a real winner. The hotel’s exterior is a bit unusual, but don’t let that dissuade you. The riverside view of the building is white, highlighted with window boxes brimming with blue, yellow, and pink petunias. The side of the hotel that faces a small square is totally covered with intricate paintings of angels, columns, warriors, costumed peasants, and flowers. From the hotel entrance, steps lead up to the lobby, which opens into a cheerful lounge with a colorful cluster of chairs and sofas. To the right of the lobby is the banquet room, very attractive with large oil paintings on the walls. French doors from the lounge lead to a balcony overlooking the river. As you enter the hotel, if instead of going up to the lobby you take the steps to the lower level, you will find the restaurant Balances, with a delightful terrace looking out over the river, serving fine food fresh from the local market. The guestrooms were renovated in 2008 and are attractively decorated in pastel hues. The suites have whirlpools and saunas. The choice rooms, of course, are those with a balcony overlooking the river.
