What a surprise it was after visiting Meierei Landgasthof on the edge of Lake Saint Moritz to walk into the Hotel Eden and find it is owned by the same family. The son, Maurizio, is busy managing the Meierei while his sister is busy at the Hotel Eden. Both seem to have the same cordial management style that is so frequently reflected when family is at the front desk. Although under the same ownership, there is no competition since each is entirely different. Whereas the Meierei Landgasthof is rustic in decor and well known for its restaurant, the Hotel Eden, which is well located in the heart of Saint Moritz, is a city hotel and serves only breakfast. As you enter the Eden, throw carpets warm the expanse of floor and straight ahead is an atrium, a sunny place to relax and enjoy the offering of afternoon tea. On your right is an old-fashioned, intimate parlor, furnished with rather formal antiques. Breakfast is served in a spacious downstairs dining room where each morning a bountiful buffet is artistically presented on an antique sleigh. The bedrooms are individual in decor and vary in size, decor, and view. Some are very motel-like and others have light knotty-pine furnishings. Room 138, a corner room with a bay window overlooking the lake, is particularly attractive.
