Karen's Review Of This Property:
A visit to Gidleigh Park is an experience not to be missed. The setting is stunning: a secluded woodland surrounding acres of beautiful garden with a tumbling stream in Dartmoor National Park. The house is a divinely decorated beauty full of lovely antiques and honey-toned paneling. Bedrooms are luxurious with sumptuous soft furnishings, antiques, original artwork, absolutely top-of-the-line bathrooms and a host of creature comforts. Know you deserve the best and request one of the spacious master rooms with panoramic views. Rooms at the top of the house are more contemporary in design. Some incorporate baths into the living space, some have a sauna and one a hot tub on the deck. While the exclusive style of the place merits a stay, THE reason to come here is the food. Executive chef Michael Caine’s flair for classic and modern food has earned him 2 Michelin stars and a clutch of culinary awards. Walks abound from gentle strolls around the garden to day-long hikes from the hotel into the wild beauty of Dartmoor. Guided walks can be arranged with Chris Chapman, well known for his knowledge of the moor and its natural history. Nearby Chagford is a delightful country town.
Directions: From Chagford Square turn right (at Lloyds Bank) into Mill Street. After 150 yards fork right and go downhill to Factory Crossroad. Go straight across into Holy Street and follow the lane for 1½ miles to the end.
