Karen's Review Of This Property:
Traben-Trabach, although not as well-known as some of the villages along the Mosel, was one of the most prosperous wine trading centers in Europe, second only to Bordeaux. Many handsome buildings remain, attesting to its past glory. One of these is the Romantik Jugendstilhotel Bellevue—a Victorian-style building with ornate trim, many balconies, gabled windows, high-pitched roof, and whimsical turrets. The location is unsurpassable. The Mosel flows directly in front with only a narrow lane and walking path separating it from the river. An old world ambiance prevails when you enter the foyer with its dark paneled walls, dark furniture, and light filtering in through stain glass windows. The nostalgic dining room is especially attractive with Art Nouveau paintings, arched windows, white Austrian curtains, and potted palms. There is also an adorable, cozy bar. On sunny days guests prefer to enjoy the excellent meals outside on the terrace. The bedrooms vary in style. Some are modern, others furnished in antiques. Many of the guestrooms are in historic houses that line the river, just down the street from the hotel. These rooms are excellent and sometimes more spacious than those in the main building. One of the hotel’s most outstanding assets is its charming, exuberant young owner, Matthias Ganter.
