Karen's Review Of This Property:
The Parador del Dominico is a well-located hotel that can be depended upon for quality and service. The hotel rooms are all similar in style and furnishings and, although it is perhaps not quite as quaint as some of our other hotel recommendations in Oaxaca, it has the advantage that you are assured of consistent standards whatever room you are in. The guestrooms are furnished in a typical hotel style, with wooden headboards, writing tables, and chests of drawers. All offer air conditioning, good lighting, nice bathrooms, mini-bars, satellite TV, direct-dial phones, and room service. Facing onto one of Oaxaca’s main streets, the hotel looks the same outside as so many of the town’s colonial-era buildings: an unadorned, one-story, colorful, stuccoed building with windows and doorway bound by stone and an entrance enhanced by antique wrought-iron light fixtures. Not until you step inside does the personality of the hotel appear. The enclosed interior courtyard has a pretty zigzag-patterned brick floor, an old stone well, potted plants, and even a large old shade tree. A contemporary wooden bar tucked against one wall of the courtyard provides refreshments to guests sitting at the wrought-iron tables and chairs. There is also a restaurant at the front of the hotel with yellow walls.
