Karen's Review Of This Property:
Superbly located in the heart of town, the Casa Oaxaca offers an old-fashioned style of personal service and a sophisticated, gentle refinement—far beyond what you would expect in such a tiny hotel. This simple, unadorned, bright-blue, stucco house is typical of the buildings found throughout Oaxaca. The heart of the hotel is its open garden courtyard, which is surrounded by a white columned arcade. Whereas most of Oaxaca’s courtyards exude a cheerful, colorful, busy ambiance with many potted plants and fountains, Casa Oaxaca’s is much less cluttered and, with its dazzling white walls, carefully placed accent trees, and rattan tables and chairs, has an almost Oriental look. In fact, throughout the hotel there is a most refreshing, minimalist, modern simplicity. The guestrooms have modern furnishings and white walls accented by well-framed photographs of Indian villages. Most of the guestrooms have doors opening onto the courtyard, but the suite faces a second patio with swimming pool. The hotel has an excellent, intimate restaurant where the talented chef, Alejandro Ruiz Olmedo, upon sufficient prior notice, will prepare a menu of your choice. Like the décor in the rest of the hotel, the small restaurant has a delightfully fresh look, with white walls and modern furnishings. A Continental breakfast including homemade breads is served each morning in the tranquility of the courtyard.
